Whitney Houston born into greatness.
She was the daughter of gospel singer Cissy Houston, the cousin of 1960s pop diva Dionne Warwick and the god-daughter of Aretha Franklin.
She grew up singing in the church. And in her teens, she sang backup for Chaka Khan, Jermaine Jackson and many others,
In the mid 80s, Houston made her eponymous debut album which sold millions and spawned hit after hit including Saving All My Love for You How Will I Know, You Give Good Love and The Greatest Love of All.
News of her death has elicited a flood of reaction from fans and fellow celebrities including Aretha Franklin, Dolly Parton and Quincy Jones who described her as a "true original" and a "talent beyond compare".
The pop diva spoke openly with us about her faith in God.
