Shawn McDonald grew up with his grandparents because his parents - he says - were drug addicts and didn't want him!
So with the help of a little marijuana and other stuff, Shawn grew numb to the pain.
And as the song says, he went looking for love in all the "wrong places" - witchcraft, Hinduism, yoga, meditation, and even Rastafarianism.
Then while on bail after his second drug bust, he pulled out the Bible his grandmother gave him as a boy.
